Legislative Consent: Non-Domestic Rating (Lists) Bill
Legislative Consent: Non-Domestic Rating (Lists) Bill
This
is a matter where the consent of the National Assembly for Wales is sought by
the UK Government to legislate on an issue which could normally fall within the
competence of the Assembly.
The
Non-Domestic
Rating (Lists) Bill was introduced in the House of Commons on 11 June 2019.
The
Bill seeks to ensure that non-domestic rates bills more accurately reflect the
current rental value of properties by bringing forward the next revaluation
exercise to 1 April 2021.
The
Welsh Government laid a Legislative Consent Memorandum (LCM) on the Bill before
the National Assembly on 19
June 2019 (PDF, 76KB).
The
Non-Domestic Rating (Lists) Bill failed to complete its passage through UK
Parliament before the prorogue of Parliament on 9 September 2019. This means
the Bill will make no further progress and the LCM is no longer required.
