The
National Assembly for Wales’ Environment
and Sustainability Committee undertook an inquiry into the European
Commission's proposed prohibition of driftnet fisheries.
The
purpose of this inquiry was to examine the potential impacts on Wales of the
European Commission’s proposals to prohibit driftnet fisheries.

The
inquiry considered:
- The impact these
proposals will have on Welsh fisheries if left unchanged; and
- How the proposals
should be amended to protect sustainable Welsh fisheries.
