Purpose of the consultation
The
Climate Change, Environment and Rural
Affairs Committee is carrying out an inquiry into the impact of
microplastic pollution in Welsh waterways.
Please tell us what you think in response to the following
questions. Please feel free to address
any other issues in your response:
- To what extent are microplastics,
including synthetic microfibers, a problem within Wales’ aquatic
environment? How does this impact
on environmental and human health?
- What are the main sources of
microplastic pollution, including microfibres?
- How comprehensive is our
knowledge about the scale of microplastic pollution and its effects? What should the research priorities be?
- What is currently being done to
minimise the release of microplastics into the environment? What more can be done, and by whom, to
address this issue within Wales?
Please
tell us what you think about these issues by emailing us at SeneddCCERA@assembly.wales. We ask
that all contributions reach us before 21 September 2018. After this date, the Committee will consider
the responses and decide how to take the inquiry forward.
