4.3 The Committee noted the paper on the Draft Food Hygiene (Wales) Bill.

 

4.4 The Committee agreed to undertake informal external visits during the Committee’s allocated meeting slots on 28 March and the morning of 26 April as part of the inquiry into residential care for older people.

 

4.5 The Committee agreed to extend the time of its meeting on the afternoon of 26 April to accommodate oral evidence sessions.

2.1 The officials responded to questions from members of the Committee on the Draft Food Hygiene Ratings (Wales) Bill.

 

2.2 The officials agreed to provide the following additional information, as requested by the Committee:

·         figures for the number of ‘hits’ on the FSA’s food hygiene ratings webpages;

·         a breakdown of the number of hospitals in Wales in each food hygiene rating category;

·         the number of hospitals in Wales currently displaying their food hygiene rating; and

·         an accurate figure of the number of food businesses in Wales that have been rated since October 2010, broken down to Local Authority level, and a breakdown of the number of businesses in each rating. 

2.3 The Committee agreed to hold a similar session once the consultation on the Draft Bill has closed.

3.1 The Committee noted the publication of the Draft Food Hygiene Rating (Wales) Bill.

 

3.2 The Committee discussed the approach it should take in considering the draft bill and agreed that it should seek a briefing from Welsh Government officials. The Committee agreed that the purpose of this briefing would be to keep abreast of developments with the draft bill as opposed to expressing a view on its content.
