I think that the Welsh Government must lead the way in changing parenting habits and public attitudes towards smacking. I think the law as it stands is outdated and currently does not reflect that attitudes have already changed massively and very few new parents nowadays think smacking is one of the tools in their armoury.

Where legislation leads, changes in people's habits follow - just as with smoking in pubs and wearing seatbelts, both of which are now totally accepted by the public.

No. Parents of newborns already see health visitors and can attend clinics where babies are weighed - these forums / meetings can be used to share parenting tips and advice (as they are anyway) without any extra cost.
