As a parent I know how frustrating parenting can be at times. I was physically punished as a child and hated every bit of it and swore never to bring it to my parenting. I am fortunate that I can say that I have never physically punished my children but there were a couple of times out of sheer frustration that I came close. By giving a clear message that it is illegal, it reinforces that there are other ways of parenting and stepping back. The Bill, if passed, will give hope to young people that are being deliberately physically hit by parents/ carers in an abusive situation hope that it will stop if they tell someone they trust. It will help social workers, passers by in the street - everyone a clear message - it's not ok and there could be consequences. There is so much evidence to show that physical punishment is not a good way to discipline babies, children and young people - we must get behind them and support our young people in having a voice. Please pass the Bill. Diolch.

I hope it is passed and that young people in Wales know that our Government is looking out for them as they are after all, our future.
