For the reasons stated. There is no evidence that beating a child affects behaviour in a positive way. It also contravenes the UN Nations on the Rights of the Child.

You would not want a parent to feel that s/he cannot take a measure, which may include some force, which makes a child safe e.g. grabbing or pushing a child backwards who was about to cross a road without looking or go too close to the edge of a potential falling place. I understand that this is not intended but feel it should be made extremely clear at all times.
