Children require the same level if not more, of protection against assault as adults. They are vulnerable people and we have a duty to offer protection

Yes. There is an imbalance of power between children and adults . Children need the protection of the law. It is too easy for adults to only consider their rights rather than responsibilities. Adults justify their actions by believing that physical punishment is effective discipline. There is no evidence for this.
