I believe existing legislation is sufficient to safeguard children from genuine abuse. I strongly object to the state meddling in family affairs unnecessarily. We are all too aware of finite resources these days. It beggars belief that police and social workers could be diverted from real issues to the end that loving parents are prosecuted and criminalised.
