Most parents smack their children at some point and were probably smacked themselves as children.
It is not a criminal offence

No. This bill would criminalise loving parents.
It is the parents role to discipline their children when they do wrong or are in danger.This is a way of doing it, especially when the child does not understand a verbal warning.

Police, social workers and others could be faced with people reporting parents for trivial matters

It is the job of a parent to bring up their children and not the state or government.
The law should not be used to do this, to criminalise a parent.
The law is there to protect children.
A smack by a loving parent is not violence.
