Ymchwiliad Rhandiroedd | Allotments Inquiry

Ymateb gan : Cyngor Tref Abergele

Evidence from : Abergele Town Council

Abergele Town has lost all of its allotment land over recent decades to the development of Highways and the spread of housing. The Town Council itself does not own land to reinstate the facility but there is a will to find a solution to the provision of allotments for the community. At present the demand for allotments is not measured and land is scarce, but provision of allotments frequently becomes a topic of conversation amongst Councillors, triggered by local opinion. The benefits of allotments is well understood and Abergele Town Council welcomed the 2010 report.

As a means to meeting its obligations under the Wellbeing Act the Town Council is keen to engage in finding a solution but efforts are frustrated by a lack of engagement on the part of the LA.
