Question

Answer

01

Not sure

It is so wide-ranging and varied, it would be difficult to not let anyone slip through the net. It should be in the Bill if it encompasses all.

02

Yes

03

No

I am not entirely sure that local authorities have people with the right skills and passion to support (my child, for instance). I would like to see some charities and support organisations involved.

04

Yes

05

This does not seem very long, however, it would probably eradicate the endless cycle of meetings about meetings.

06

I am satisfied that guidance can be provided within three months, as long as it remains an open en adaptable guideline.

07

Seems quite quick, but anything that might help to get more targeted support is very welcome.

09

Yes

Probably even sooner, or even during the same appointment. It would eliminate more distressing waiting times worrying about the assessment (for the ASD person)

10

Yes

However, I have had contact with some of these professionals and have been worried about their level of training and their willingness to support forward-thinking solutions over resignation and doubt about an ASD person's abilities. This is my personal experience of course.

Also, some campaigning/training should be implemented for parents to change their mindset from 'having a disabled child', or 'my child can't do this or that', or 'my child must have all this extra support but I am not going to enable any forward growth'. I have been very disheartened with the lazy (sorry), unintelligent and backward-thinking attitudes of other parents. It's why I am not involved with a support group: I found most more focused on the can'ts than the cans.

13

Yes

14

I am wary of information about my child on a system that I have no access to or control over. I requested for outreach services to stop making reports on my child without my knowledge. They carried on, but stated 'they were at the school to see another ch

16

Not sure

Not sure how I feel about this. Could the Welsh Government not ask me directly?

17

It should happen all the time.

There should be a move towards habitual actions and routines that would benefit neurotypical people as much as ASD people. (eg, more routine in everyday processes, more and more timely information on changes, clear and simple language (unambiguous))

I would have to answer this question in a week or so, to process the info and let it sink in to form a more well-rounded opinion.
